COMPUTERIZED CERAMICS

2023
CGI / ART DIRECTION / CONCEPT

'Computerised Ceramics' is an animation short that explores how the lines between our physical and digital worlds will gradually become more and more blurred as we enter the age of the metaverse and augmented reality. The individual ceramic works are adorned with identifiable digital backgrounds/screensavers which have almost become a hallmark of the internet aesthetic of the last 20 years. Combining this digital aesthetic with an object that exists in our physical world such as a ceramic vase presents a window into how digital artworks could be reimagined to feel more tactile and existent in a 3D rendered world. Blurring the lines between these two worlds presents the viewer with a series of objects that appear familiar but also feel you can interact with them through touch. Will these digital worlds become so realistic and push the boundaries of reality to the point where we are no longer interested in what the physical world has to offer us visually?
